    Reflection at the Reflecting Pool

    ByElizabeth August 19, 2013August 19, 2013

I took a few moments in the middle of my work day to go outside to walk and then to sit quietly.

I found it rather tranquil to watch the gentle waves on the reflecting pool on the west side of the Capitol building.

The reflecting pool was then a better tool for inner reflection when it wasn’t reflecting an image of what is outside of and next to it–as glorious as it is when it is offering up a picture perfect reflection of the Capitol dome and its surroundings. Hmm.

    Butterfly (Two Views)

    ByElizabeth August 17, 2013

When do you ever see pictures of the underside of a butterfly?  Usually it’s the top view or from the side with the wings folded together.  The underside, too, is sweet, especially because we can see the delicate legs clinging to the flower.

    Found Exhortation (and Sadhana)

    ByElizabeth August 14, 2013August 14, 2013

Have you done your practice (in Sanskrit–sadhana) today, whatever your practice may be?

If you don’t yet have a regular practice, what do you think it would take? I recommend starting small–allow it to be short and what you like to practice, rather than failing because you think it must be challenging or for a longer period of time than fits readily into your schedule.

    Cloud on Cloud

    Shadow. When we are open
    To it beauty comes.

The Province of Kali (as Goddess of Sequencing)

    ByElizabeth August 12, 2013August 12, 2013

We are bound in time and space in this body/mind. One of the purposes of the yoga and meditation practices is to help us see from a less bound perspective so that we can navigate and order ourselves more optimally in time and space, which should serve to make things seem more easeful and gracious.

State of the Garden (Here Come the Beans)

    ByElizabeth August 11, 2013August 11, 2013

I’ve been eating young tender beans a few at a time when working in the garden, but now comes the week or two when they are abundant.
