State of the Garden

Thoughts about eating well to feed your body and spirit.
I ordered some seeds for the garden–Malabar spinach–a spinach-like green that supposedly likes heat and humidity–from Calabash Tea and Tonic. I’m looking forward to seeing whether it will thrive in the summer. It’s hard to find greens that do well in the long, hot summer.
As I was running low, I also got some powdered ginger. Even though I can make my own, because it came with a good story, I included some Jamaican curry powder in my order. They arrived almost immediately, along with an exhortation.

Leftover kuku sabzi (with herbs and greens from the garden), just-picked radishes with black charcoal salt, homemade sourdough discard rye crackers made earlier in the week. And cool infusion of mint and lemon balm.
I have settled into an at home almost all the time routine that is pretty healthy and for that, I daily give supreme gratitude. I think working from home for the remainder of my career would probably suit me.

Homely and definitely could have been better executed, but satisfying when hot from the oven. The crust I’d frozen a few weeks ago, and it used no commercial yeast. Chard from the garden. The extra portions went into the freezer. During the work week, I’ll be happy to be able to warm it up in the toaster oven for breakfast or lunch–perhaps adding cheese or sprouts and herbs. Or another egg.

Radishes, kale, green garlic

Is it obvious that one of the ways I ground myself is to eat mindfully?
