This morning I walked up to Cultivate the City with a neighbor. I am going to try more fruit this year–I found a spot for a passion fruit vine; I will put strawberry towers on the sleeping porch; I may put in a golden raspberry; the Concord grape is looking promising. Meanwhile, around the neighborhood, the cherry trees are in full blossom.
Plenty of divides available for those in the neighborhood.

I’ve taken to making dough for pizza and naan and then keeping it in the freezer to be thawed, shaped, and baked on a work night.
The green grocery delivery included dandelion greens.

Little bits of greenery.

I am deeply grateful that I can soothe myself with food. I made basil, garlic chive pesto last summer when the garden was at its height and froze some (before adding cheese). The sourdough starter needs to be used at least a couple of times a month. I made enough dough to have a personal pizza four or five times. Finally got the crust both crunchy and chewy.
I could mention that work is busy, I am continuing to refine and expand making reparations and seeking decency and justice, and I am participating in an on-line meditation retreat with an hour of practice at noon every day this week.

A minor upside of global climate change. Fresh mint and lemon balm for tea in mid-winter.

Instead of making intentions that quite possibly are influenced by the capitalist patriarchy, I invite you to ask yourself what is your purpose, who you are, what strengths you have to serve the collective, what is your svadharma and what might nourish your living it to the fullest?
My house is clean and I made a delicious meal and I will be in bed long before midnight.

I wanted a plateful of cookies. To have that required sharing cookies with neighbors. I still have some left. If you’re a neighbor, let me know if you want some. In writing about cookies and sharing with neighbors, I think of my good fortune and make another donation to share with neighbors less fortunate, too.

Because I knew yesterday, when it was bright and warm and lovely, that I would really appreciate a warm and homely breakfast, as I listened to the wintry rain falling.
