    Cast-Off Objects Around Town (1 of 2)

    ByElizabeth July 19, 2012July 19, 2012

I saw these first, two blocks aways from the the rest (see “Cast-Off Objects Around (2 of 2)”). Did someone select these from a larger group of cast-offs and then decide after carrying them down the street that in fact she did not want or need them and discarded them, too? Or was there some kind of energectic convergence that led two neighbors a couple of streets apart to cast off the same kind of books at the same time?

An inquiring mind might ask these questions and then inquire of itself whether there was any need for either the questions or the answers.

    Fairy Clouds 2

    ByElizabeth July 17, 2012July 17, 2012

The clouds of drought-ridden skies have an uncannily alluring beauty, like that of fairies who, though exquisite, are heartless and dangerous by human standards.

Signs Around Town (What Do Words Lead Us to See?)

    ByElizabeth July 16, 2012July 16, 2012

Does “black” here refer to the artist who stenciled the letters, to the brickmaker, to the bricklayer; was it painted by someone who is color-blind or who was showing that for one who is red-green color-blind the word “black” would not be visible; or is the painting intentionally asking us what we see when we see the word for a color painted using a different color than that pointed to by the word?

This is such a wonderful demonstration of how words can confuse our understanding of the world as much as they can communicate. I think much attempt to put into words spiritual and mystical thought and experience suffers from this multiple muddling of meaning.

    urban gardening, sprouts, healthy breakfast

    ByElizabeth July 15, 2012July 15, 2012

Grapes just picked from the garden. Concord grapes are a native, so they thrive really well. Crostini with beluga lentil sprouts and “Russian Mix” sprouts from the “Sprout People” (includes onion and caraway); almond butter, avocado; and a dash of fine balsamic vinegar.

Summertime, and the Living Is Easy… (and Sri)

    ByElizabeth July 14, 2012July 14, 2012

Well, not always and not as much for some than others in particular embodiments or at certain periods in life, but at least for the moment. A moment of stillness, of being at peace, of creativity, of effulgence, of some sort of contentment is always possible. Discovering sri is knowing how to find/make/connect into such moments, especially when things don’t seem easy.
