A friend and neighbor when dividing her garden for better growth gave me these bulbs several years ago. They have bloomed every subsequent spring, bringing a shot of color and beauty to a spot that technically is not mine, but is on the edge of the woefully neglected yard of my next door neighbor.
As I walk around the neighborhood admiring one bloom after another in this exuberant season I think about how much the front gardens are not just for ourselves, but an offering for each other–friends and passers-by alike. Sharing the beauty is such a wonderful way to connect.

It may be true that power that gives power over corrupts, but being empowered is liberating. The yoga, when practiced as part of an ethical life, is empowering. But beware those who claim that “enlightenment” frees one from behaving with integrity.

On the Way Home from Spanish Class Before Meditating on the Bus and Engaging In Before Sleep Self-Care Rituals
Including gentle yoga asana to address the places that feel a bit stuck after 2 1/2 hours in a hard small chair with a desk attached to the right side (I write with my left hand). I change my position almost constantly, but slowly, so that it’s not disruptive.
