I was cranky at work today. I remembered to open to beauty. The scent of these lilies of the valley reminded me of my maternal grandmother and old-fashioned French perfume.

No one was in sight.

Perfect between work and Spanish class meal–brown rice and red lentil kitcheree made in the rice cooker. Garnished with chopped herbs from the garden–mint, coriander, fennel.

Around town is rarely more than 10 blocks away. This outrageous lilac is just around the other side of the corner house next door.
I looked up this morning to notice that an orchid from Trader Joe’s from before the pandemic, decided to bloom.
