Thank You Ravi Shankar
I say without hesitation that Ravi Shankar is one of the influences that led me to the deep practices of yoga. When I was first exposed to it through the Beatles in my early childhood, the music appealed to me at a visceral level. Throughout my late childhood and teens, I loved to dance or allow myself to go into a trance state listening to Indian music. On reading of his leaving this body, I take a moment to honor Ravi Shankar.
Found Exhortation (and Ananda)
We are unlikely to find bliss (ananda) if we spend our lives paralyzed by fear and stuck in our limitations. On the other hand, if we blast through life heedless of our limitations, we will be a menace to ourselves and others.
When we cultivate impeccable awareness of how we are in time and space at each moment, then with the safety that such awareness brings, we will be most able to engage in the joyous possibilities of life.

State of the (Inner) Garden
One of the practical applications of meditating–of the yoga practice of looking within–is to be able to find beauty when things are ugly or challenging or enervating, etc.
Knowing how to find that beauty may not change what comes at us, but it can change our outlook and approach.
