Website Glitches Test Post
It looks like what was leading to error messages for seeing photos and inaccurate claims my mailbox was full was that I was out of memory for the website.
Overfull, it didn’t tell me what was wrong, but just blocked displaying photos and receiving messages. How often are people like that? When overwhelmed or stretched too thin, it’s possible to see stress and challenge, but not quite what is really the issue.
One of the ways a steady yoga and meditation practice can shift us is to heighten awareness. The error messages we perceive and send are better correlated to the issues at hand.
Signs Around Town (This One Temporary)
This is a quote on the wall at the Lewis Baltz exhibit at the National Gallery (closing July 31st).
Where I travel, the landscape is often bustling or crowded or fine or grand–though much is spare like Judd’s. Some to love and some not so much. The relationships are perhaps both deep and complex at the level of mind and emotion. At the level of inner wisdom, illuminated by the light of consciousness (when I can maintain it with respect to those things external), though, it is exquisitely simple.

Green Tomatoes
All the tomatoes were picked green. Those that are red changed color, but did not otherwise ripen. Still, cooked for a long time in the slow cooker with lots of red wine, they will make a fine sauce.
I am reminded by the tomatoes, I was reminded at a yoga workshop with Elena Brower that I attended this weekend, a really good question is what are you going to do with the resources you have?
Signs Around Town
A friend emailed me today that her children will be home for rest of the week because their schools lost power from Sandy, and that she is counting her blessings because she and her family came through fine. My parents, who lost trees, including one that went through the roof of their house, are counting themselves well off because they witnessed how bad it could have been. In contrast, some others I know who didn’t experience any real inconvenience to themselves personally though in danger range have said they thought the storm had been “over-hyped.” (I know, being exposed to silly statements such as the latter is a peril of social media).
Do we need to know hardship ourselves, at least a little, in order to have true sensitivity and compassion? Possibly.
To all my friends and family challenged in the wake of Sandy or going through another challenge or hardship, please know that you are in my thoughts.
