What are you going to do about it?

I think a lot about what leads people to get injured on and off the mat. Often it is that desire for a certain goal or distraction keep us from the sensitivity and mindfulness that enables us to appreciate and act on the principles of cause and effect before the injury or accident occurs. One of the great benefits of a steady practice of yoga and meditation is that it can help us be more sensitive and aware of where and how we and all the things around us relate in space and time, the critical awareness for preventing injuries in the first instance.

How exciting to see not only what is ready to eat now — the greens and herbs and strawberries — but the promise of what will come throughout the summer, so long as my dedicated attentions continue; the weather is cooperative; and the bugs, birds, and squirrels and I can negotiate my getting a decent share of what ripens. The fairy rose in the last photo was a gift from a student who was an enthusiastic participant in my gentle/therapeutic class who left his body last year. Sweet to see the rose still thriving.
“Please wait just a moment,” I asked my friend as we were heading home after a morning at the museums and a delicious lunch out.
“What,” he asked, “another heart cloud?”
I did not need to answer; he could just look at where the camera was pointed.
