State of the Garden (and Lila)
I meant to post a picture of yet another heart-shaped cloud (this one a rosy pink at twilight). The memory card that had the picture, though, insisted on being reformatted and dissolving the data. Found Exhortation (Ineffective)
Have you ever noticed just how ineffective and indeed counter-productive is the exhortation to “cheer up?” Being told to cheer up, be happy, etc, when one is feeling sad or out of sorts can just make one feel worse.
The exhortations that work are those that remind us of that for which we are grateful or that which we love, and those the remind us of or call us to the practices the result of which is to alleviate suffering.

Happy Thanksgiving
May your holiday present opportunities for gratitude and generosity. I am looking forward to sharing delicious food with good friends. My contribution is dessert. As I am currently limited to the toaster oven for baking, I’m exploring how many tasty and varied things I can make in an 8×8 pan.
I also found time for a walk. It was a bright and breezy afternoon..
