On my walk home from my annual wellness visit, along with the flu vaccine. Because my being vaccinated could save someone else’s life.

Signs Around Town (and Japa?)
The intention of mantra and japa is to help us refocus the mind. Anything we repeat or allow to repeat in our awareness will groove itself into our being.
Be ware of what you repeat to yourself or otherwise.
Chance of Showers?
There might have been a violent thunderstorm here or there (completely missed my neighborhood), but things are desperately dry in the Washington area. Please conserve water (turn it off while lathering soap on hair and body, brushing teeth, shaving, etc). Don’t wash pavement or cars. Definitely water trees really well once a week.

State of the Garden
How exciting to see not only what is ready to eat now — the greens and herbs and strawberries — but the promise of what will come throughout the summer, so long as my dedicated attentions continue; the weather is cooperative; and the bugs, birds, and squirrels and I can negotiate my getting a decent share of what ripens. The fairy rose in the last photo was a gift from a student who was an enthusiastic participant in my gentle/therapeutic class who left his body last year. Sweet to see the rose still thriving.
Sculptures Around Town (and Overdoing the Quest for Youth)
Every time I walk past this sculpture, I wonder whose idea it was to repaint it. For a long time it the gilding was chipped and faded. For me it had much more charm showing its age.
So too, I think, with humans. It is great to feel and look youthful naturally because of proper care of health, and quite another to disfigure ourselves and our looks with surgery and treatment seeking always to look like we have not fully lived out some life.
By all means, seek to remain vibrant and supple, but do please also honor the signs of experience.
