Practicing
I hope you are practicing something that helps you hold and heal yourself. I wish for you, as I wish and work for myself, some joy and equanimity amidst the global and climatic upheaval and whatever challenges you may be facing personally.
Do not turn away from suffering and also appreciate moments of beauty.

Three Lady Cardinals and the Grapes
How brazenly ecstatic were this trio of cardinals in the garden let me know that the grapes were fully ripe. They are delicious, though the skins are thick and there are seeds. The squash skin appears to have been gnawed at by a squirrel, but I like butternut squash still green.

Found Exhortation
I walked round trip to Georgetown today. It was good to walk. It was good to be with the books. It was good to have a simple meal offered by a friend when I got home.

In Which I Take My Own Advice
In the middle of another
11-hour work day, not
Counting the time to
commute, the commute
Being the round trip walk
From home during which I
have been practicing japa–
Maha mrtyunjaya mantra–
For dear spirits recently
No longer in this body.In between the work,
Between those walks,
I stopped. I stopped
and smelled the roses.
Thus refreshed by visual
Beauty and warm sun
And intoxicating scent,
I had the energy to begin
Again–to continue,
To work well.
